Madison's Great Great Aunt Peggy

Friday November 5th. We went to visit Madison’s great, great Aunt Peggy and Uncle John. This little girl has no idea how many people love and care for her. Aunt Peggy’s face lit up so bright. Thanks for visiting with us!!!
Great Grandma Jean, Great Great Aunt Peggy, Madison and Mommy!

Happy Birthday Caroline!

Thursday November 4th, Happy Birthday Caroline! We had a great time with mommy’s friend’s at Tahoe Joes.

Smiles...

November 1st. Madison smiled a real smile at Mommy for the first time!!! She melts my heart.

Happy Halloween!

October 31st, Happy Halloween! We never did find a costume that would fit little Madison. We went to the pumpkin patch today and had some snow cones and tri tip sandwiches…yummy! It’s too cold this year for trick or treating, we will definitely be getting some candy next year though.

Play Date

Play date, October 24th, Madison met her BFF Emma for the first time today! Emma is way more active than little Madison right now, but they are going to be double trouble for many years to come.

Big girl

October 23rd and Madison has grown out of newborn size diapers and a few of her newborn size outfits. She is truly growing right before our eyes.

Madison's 1st Bath

Madison had her first bath October 21st! She loved it. I put her in the water and she just nestled right in and soaked for a while. I love the smell of a clean baby.

Fresno Zoo!!!

It’s Wednesday October 20th and Madison’s umbilical cord fell off! Finally I can give her a real bath. Grandma called today to see if Madison would like to go to the zoo with her uncles. Casey and Parker had a great time, Madison just slept almost the whole time. Before leaving the zoo, we got to feed a giraffe. She was a little fussy before that adventure. I suppose she wanted to feed herself rather than the giraffe. Hopefully Madison will enjoy the zoo when she is older.

Dr. appointments...

Thursday October 7th was Madison’s first Dr.’s appt. Her Dr. gave her a clean bill of health and wanted us back for a weight check to monitor her jaundice and make sure everything was returning to normal.

Tuesday October 12th we returned to the Dr. and Madison weighed in at 8lb 11oz. Her jaundice is going away and we don’t have to return to the Dr.’s office until her 2 month check up.

Madi meets Mommy's school friends...

Wednesday October 6th Madi and I went to “Mama Caroline’s” to celebrate Veva’s birthday and introduce Mommy’s nursing cohort to the bundle of joy that has been with us through class and clinical for the past 9 months. Madison was passed around the room and welcomed with lots of love by everyone.

Here we come Children's Hospital...

Our first few days home went fast. Madison’s bilirubin level was high when we left the hospital, so we had to get her blood drawn Saturday to monitor her levels (Mommy did her blood work at her old work.). The numbers went up until Sunday and the Dr. recommended we admit her to the hospital for treatment of Jaundice. Sunday October 3rd, Mommy and Madi spent the night at Children’s Hospital. It was the first night she didn’t sleep in my arms and the first night that I didn’t sleep at all. It was horrible watching her in the isolate because she hated it so much. Ali stayed with us late in the evening and came back to the hospital in the morning before going to work. Thankfully we were able to go home that evening. She was so wiped out from the hospital, she slept a whole 8 hours that night. My little Madison is a good sleeper!

Happy Birthday!

Madison and our Dr...
September 29th finally rolled around and I was scheduled to be induced at 6:30am. We received a call at 5:30am from the hospital; they told us they did not have a bed for us and to wait for them to call us back before going to the hospital. Ali and I were up and dressed and couldn't stand to sit around the house all day waiting for the phone call. We got in the car and drove to the mall. We walked around for a while and once we got tired of that we took off to Costco. After walking around Costco, we went to see a movie, “The Letter A.” While we were in the theatre I received a call from our Dr. He said that he was at the hospital working on a room for me and that we would be admitted that day for sure. We ate some lunch and went to a few Halloween stores to kill more time. Finally at 6:45pm I received a call from the charge nurse to come to the hospital and get this delivery started. Excited and nervous, Ali drove us to Clovis Community Hospital. My mom and grandma rushed over to be with us at the hospital. Once we were admitted and put in a room, my Dr. came in and started the pitocin and broke my water. The night went on, the contractions became closer together and more intense. Sometime around midnight I received the epidural. More time passed and around 6:15 am the nurse examined me and decided it was time to push. Madison was in a weird position with her head turned to the side rather than face down, so the nurse tried some manipulation and finally we got her in the right position to come out. Two and a half hours went by of me pushing and Madison just wouldn’t come out. The nurse said my options were to either use a vacuum or have a C-Section. We called the Dr. in and together we decided to use a vacuum. After 3 sets of pushing, she was finally out! Born September 30th, 9:59am and weighing in at whopping 8lbs 9.5oz!!! Once she was out and we saw how big she was, we knew why it was so difficult to deliver her. I looked at my little Madison with such amazement, completely shocked that she was mine and Ali’s baby girl. I can’t describe the rush of love I felt holding her for the first time. Family that was waiting anxiously for delivery included my Mom, Dad and his girlfriend Michelle, Grandma Jean and Grandma Cheryl, as well as Ali’s parents, Mark & Maryam. People that came to visit us that evening included my best friend Marissa, Aunt Kristina, my sister Alexa and Michelle’s daughters, Elyssa and Makayla.
